I have no voice and sound like a man once again. Awesome.
But no really, the Big Time Rush concert at SJSU last night was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to.
The day started out around 9, or supposedly 9 like what Jen and I had originally planned on leaving the house. Went to BK’s for some dim sum to fuel up before the long day ahead. Kept on burning my tongue on the food that was brought out cause of how impatient and hungry I was. We kept on stuffing things so we were both like “Do it for Aslan! Do it for Narnia!” or “Do it for Phil!” hahahaha.
Got to the San Jose area around 11:30 ish and we kept on circling the school to look for possible tour bus parking locations like what we did the night before after Singlebarrel. We kept on turning on to streets that led to this one way street, which made us to loop back around. We freaked out like no other when we saw their stage prop trucks and their tour buses. Before getting into the garage, we saw one of those kidnapper vans with them in the backseat, probably heading out to lunch in the area. Got to the parking structure and worked on posters. We decided to go with one “Worldwide girls” with a globe made out of construction paper with 2 arrows pointing to us, and one that says “Let’s elevate on this big night & be superstars.” Hahaha, I could’t cut out the continents to save my life and Jen couldn’t space things out on hers to save her life. The car smelled like sharpie and we both got a little loopy. Wrapped the cookies and wrote a letter to the boys before we left.
It was kinda windy and we both had to pee. After finding the bathroom in the locker room at the gym, Jen decided she wanted to changed back into pants cause she was cold and she looked skanky with her black boots on, lol. Back to the car we go. Take two. Story of our lives. We walked around the area and saw their tour buses with the British flag and promotional material for the movie that’s coming out soon. The heads on the bus looked kinda creepy cause the fence around it was really high, so you could only see their eyes, haha. We walked a little further and started to get all jittery cause we first spotted Logan standing close to a tree near the side entrance. We were really confused and didn’t believe that was him until we saw Kendall, James, Carlos and Sidney, and Ranel with a bright orange plaid backpack on another patch of grass. We were like omg omg omg, like do we approach them or do we keep on distance?! Other fans were at the opposite end of the grass area, so we didn’t feel THAT creepy, haha. Dustin and Mikey walked by and we didn’t know what to say. We should’ve gotten a picture with them! But we just kept on staring at the photo shoot that was going on. After they finished they walked toward the bus area and greeted the fans there. Then Jen and I were omg, we need to get over there!! We got to shake hands and introduce ourselves to all the guys except for James cause he was on the other side of the street with other people. Ranel took a quick group pic of us and the guys, along with like 10 other girls. I got to stand next to Logan, ahhhhhhh! I think Ranel was holding onto Sydney’s leash and she somehow got away from him and started walking toward Carlos, who was on the other side of Jen. She sniffed me and probably smelled Milo, haha. Omg, Carlos is so freaking skinny and small in person, definitely the nicest out of all the guys. :) Gave our gift bag to Logan and one of the roadies took it from him, prob to make sure it wasn’t a bomb or something. They all headed back inside and took a few more pictures in front of one of the giant trucks. By then Jen and I were like uhhhh, what just happened?! Though we weren’t all freaking out or jittery anymore, haha.
Got back to the front of the arena and waited in line for the VIP check-in to begin. Talked to the girl in front of us and she showed me the Call Me vid that Carlos just put up online. It was cute. Had interesting conversations with her before we started the check in. Talked to Stix, who also did the VIP thing for David Archuleta a couple of months ago and he directed us to go up the stairs. Without prior knowledge to where our seats were gonna be, we expected for the worst, 2 seats on the side side section, in row 10. After pulling the tickets out of the envelope, we saw they were in in row c (3rd row) and seats 108/109. We were ecstatic about the row number and didn’t quite know exactly the seats were located within that row. Tried to look for a seating chart on Jen’s phone and we got really confused cause they had all weird numberings. We literally stared at the thing for like 2 minutes before something clicked and found out we were 1 seat away from literally being the middle of the middle of that row. Couldn’t believe it! Especially since the tickets were set aside for you based on the time of your purchase and I bought them a while into the AMEX presale started, not during the fan club pre presale, cause I was stuck in OChem lab. Wow, we must’ve been lucky!!
The line finally started moving and we all got to go inside the lobby. I thought we were gonna get a shirt with the VIP bundle, but we didn’t. Did some raffles with the tickets we got in the envelope and didn’t win anything. The little boy near us was so adorable! He went to the first show in Vegas and had a sweatshirt on with an iron-on pic of him and the guys. He actually won a tour tshirt, haha. Asked Stix about what was happen next and we all waited on the concourse for them to take us down to soundcheck. It was funny how we actually got to sit 2 seats away from the seats we had tickets for, haha. Waited a little longer before the boys came on stage. They sang if I Ruled The World and Music Sounds Better with U, both acoustically, while answering a few questions from the audience in between. The songs sounded freaking amazing. Jen was gonna ask if Logan could beatbox for us, but she didn’t get the chance to cause they were rushing people off to the photo place. Long before the concert, we decided we wanted to do something funny with the boys. Jen came up with the brilliant idea of doing the sorority squat with them, like how Sunderland did with us at the Honor Society concert. We walked up to them and Jen tried to explain to them how to do it. They all got really confused and Ranel rushed us to move on. We wanted Dustin in the pic as well, but he couldn’t be dragged in. So Jen and I did the squat in the front and we seriously have no idea what the boys did in the back, hahaha. I think one of them might have done it as well. Guess we’ll see when the picture becomes available online, lol. Kendall didn’t really believe that we’re both in a sorority so he asked Jen which one. She said Phi Sigma Rho at UCSD right before we had to leave. I think James heard the SD part and turned to look at us. I also muttered that we know Mr. Kent while looking back at him, he did one of those girly waves at me before we headed back upstairs, lol. Got our bags full of stuff near the door. As much as I love the tote, I don’t think I will use it in a public area…
Our original plan was to drop everything off in the car before the concert and eat some of the food we brought. The door people wouldn’t let us go out and come back in. So Jen made up the excuse that she’s hypoglycemic and needs her special food before she passes out, haha. One of the nicer ladies saw her being all spazzy and twitchy and said one of us could go. She initialed the back of my ticket (cause I have longer legs to walk/run faster), and said I had 2 minutes to get to the car and back, so people would let me back in. I seriously sprinted to the parking garage, grabbed our left over pizza slices from the night before, the tree hats, and posters and ran back to the lobby area. The ladies outside the doors told me I had to go the other way and come back with the rest of the people but I told her about my initialed ticket. I couldn’t find the one that signed for me, but the door people managed to find her in front of the bathroom. Got back inside without much trouble. Score.
Munched on our pizza next to the bathroom and listened to other people’s conversations. I really don’t get why people cry over the fact that they just met someone. Jen and I decided that BTR is losing their adrenaline-pumping special quality with us cause we freaked out like no other the first time we met them at Summer Kickoff as soon as they walked into the meet and greet area. This time, we were just like ehhhh, no big deal. Guess we need to find a new boy band to stalk and meet, hahaha. We were both just like meeehhhh while sitting on the ground and actually doubted if it was worth the money we paid for for that concert package. Did more raffles and totally didn’t win anything again. Our energy was drained at that point and we needed something to pump us up. Jen got a Rockstar energy drink from the concessions. Wow, for overly priced stuff at concert venues, everything on the menu was more on the cheaper side. We wanted a pic with Stix but people wouldn’t stop talking to him. After the VIPs were allowed to head down to the floor, we finally got a pic with Stix. He’s such a nice guy! I left my bag on the ground while I got my pic, he picked it up for me after. Daawwwww
Walked down to our seats and they seemed closer to the stage than what I had remembered. Waited for a while before Jackson Guthy came on as the first opening act. He wasn’t bad, but his songs got old pretty fast. One of them, he sang about “you got me and I got you” over and over again. Yeah, we got that part. Jen and I were both staring at the good looking guitarist and was ignoring the kid, hahaha. Jackson reminded us of the Sprouce twins, with a little Cody Lindley and Freddie Highmore mixed in. He tossed out a hat during one of the songs and it landed on some Asian lady in the front. She seemed surprised and didn’t expect it, haha. His set was over pretty fast and JoJo came on. She couldn’t hear out of her in-ear and her mic pack prob wasn’t working, she still sounded great. Jen and I went crazy when she sang Leave Get Out, hahaha. Such middle school status! We didn’t know the new songs she performed, but whatever. She was a lot more angry looking than we remembered, lol. Did some provocative dancing during a song and we were like whao! There are little kids in the audience! Hahaha. She was drinking “apple juice” from one of midget round bottles. It looked nothing like pure apple juice! Her last song was Little Too Late. I know the chorus pretty well, but not like all the words in between. We had some awkward, intense stare downs while I was trying to make up words to fill in during the other parts, rofl.
There was a guy that had a remote control and flew the blimp around. We couldn’t tell what was attached at the bottom of the blimp that was getting dropped off into the audience. We also couldn’t tell if there was a camera in that thing or not but people waved and screamed at it nonetheless. The Twitter thing started on the big screen. Tweets people sent with the #BigTimeSanJose were shown. I swear, my things never get onto the big screen at concerts. Jen managed to get hers on there. We were like ladjgbladinliwehflwiehtlwriht! and sent in a pic from her phone. That made it too! Psh, none of my 5 tweets made it. Lame. The countdown on the side of the screen ticked down and then we were getting really amped up and excited. We put on our tree hats and got the posters ready when the place went back for a few seconds.
Their faces came on the screen. I think people screamed the most for Logan, haha. I loved their set list, though I wish they sang You’re Not Alone. During Time of Our Lives, James saw our tree hats and our posters. He was just staring at them with a blank face, lol. Loved their stage set up, with poles and ramps, and even a big trampoline in the middle. They had amazing pyros. Their choreography was definitely less cheesy, comparing to what they did on the show. They wore black and white for the first couple of songs. Jen and I decided that Carlos had the best outfit of 4 and we didn’t understand the things that were chosen for Logan and Kendall. Some streamers shot out during one of the songs and I kinda faught the girl next to me to get one. :P They sang creepily in the dark for No Idea, haha. I don’t think Logan can multitask very well. It was either concentrating on the singing or looking really serious and thinking about his dance moves, lol. And he just looked awkward while trying to lip-sync one part of a song. Their costume changes were super fast. The next group of 4/5 songs, they came out in black leather jackets with red trimmings. They were very Michael Jackson like. The weird finger glove thing on Logan, what’s that about?! Love Me Love Me was so much fun! Omg! Loved the fighting scenes where Logan came out on top, yeeeesssssss. Their stage went up and down during Invisible while Kendall’s mic stopped working properly for a bit, and they came out with new outfits for Boyfriend. They had the band sit along the front of the stage for a mini jam session while singing Cover Girl. They ran into the audience! Being stuck in the middle of the middle, we weren’t able to run over to where they were. We stared at Dustin and swayed back and forth while he smiled and swayed with us, hahaha. Logan and Carlos were on our right with Ranel nearby and Kendall and James were on our left. Kendall stood up on a chair that was literally 5 away from mine. After that was over, James, Carlos, and Logan got back onto the stage while Kendall was still in the audience. They were looking for their “Worldwide” girl to sing to. Logan and James kept on staring at my sign while Kendall picked out some blonde chick from 2 or 3 rows behind us. Seriously, I think we would’ve gotten chosen if James/Logan chose and Kendall had seen our sign/was near us. Rawrrrrr!! But it was all good. Kendall acknowledged our hats during Worldwide has he pointed to his own hat while smiling at us. Another costume change and the boys were back out for the last few songs. They ran around the stage while filming each other with the side camera. Jen and I made it onto the big screen a couple times cause we saw her poster and our tree hats bobbing up and down on it. Kendall and Carlos crashed into each other during this one part. Confetti blew out from the cannons after their encore, City is Ours. The concert was over super fast. We were jumping and screaming the whole time. The tree hats made us sweat like no other. Jen had to use the sign to fan us between the songs. We walked up to the stage, hoping we could get a setlist or something, but the guards said they weren’t allowed to touch anything on the stage. Got a quick pic in front of the stage while one of them photobomed it, hahaha. Jen had to make a mad dash to the bathroom while I stood outside with stuff. Little kids walked by were like omg! She has a tree hat on! Got a few weird stares from the workers there, but hey, they were just jealous cause they didn’t have cool hats like we did. Walked outside cause we couldn’t decide on whether or not we wanted to wait by their buses again. Saw a massive group of people by their bus gate and another group by the place where we met them in the afternoon. Waited for 15ish minutes until like 10:10 before we gave up and headed to the parking lot, knowing that they prob wouldn’t come out after anyway. Sat in the car for a while and waited for the traffic to die down a bit. We were super amped and crazy on the drive home that we were just laughing at everything. That point, we decided that we would get VIPs again for a future show just cause of good seats we got and how much fun it was during the whole thing for being so close to the stage. And also that we need to bring Xtina to a show so she can be the crazy blonde chick that gets chosen and we get to go on stage, lol.
Calves are dying. Blisters are throbing on my toes. Back is aching. I wouldn’t trade any of that for anything else. Last night was perfect. I want to have it on repeat.
Meet and greet count: 4
